Time To Move Up the Political Food Chain

If you haven’t already done so, it’s time to contact your elected officials in Raleigh and Washington, DC, and tell them how you feel about the proposed Titan cement plant. Below is a contact list for our elected leaders. At the state level they’re divided by the NC House of Representatives and NC Senate. For example, if you’re in New Hanover County, you’d email Sandra Spaulding Hughes, Carolyn Justice, Danny McComas, and Senator Julia Boseman. If you live in Pender, contact Sandra Spaulding Hughes and Carolyn Justice at the NC House of Representatives, and R. C. Soles, Jr., in the Senate. If you live in Brunswick, contact Dewey Hill and Bonner Stiller in the NC House of Representatives and R.C. Soles, Jr., in the NC Senate. Take it a step further and contact Governor Mike Easley. Ask him why he gave an industrial polluter like Titan Cement $300,000 dollars in state grant money. Contact our two US Senators (Dole and Burr) and tell them you’re concerned about the mercury and the other air and water pollution this cement plant will bring to our area. Mike McIntyre is our US congressmen—this is his issue too.

You can cut and paste from the letters we have up already OR, a more effective letter will be one straight from you. Read through the website, the talking points, the research, and let these elected officials know why you do not want Titan Cement to build a cement plant in Castle Hayne. Call them too and ask them what they can do to help stop Titan. This is Democracy 101 and we all need to let these folks know we are here and we are very concerned. Believe it or not, your voice–an educated, sincere and respectful voice–is the best tool we have to fight this. They work for us. They need to know about this. They want to hear it from you. Please do it today!
