Another Titan Supporter Ousted from New Hanover County Commissioner's Board

Bill Caster, an 18-year veteran on the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners and strong supporter of Titan Cement, lost his seat in yesterday's Republican runoff election in a near landslide to Brian Berger, an outspoken opponent of the Titan project, who captured 65% of the votes cast. That means that all but one of the original five County Commissioners who voted in favor of offering tax incentives to Titan Cement in 2008 have been voted off or decided to retire from the Board by November.
 
It seems clear that supporting the Titan Cement project is akin to putting concrete overshoes on your political career and tossing it in the Northeast Cape Fear River.
