E-Letter to Titan America

To whom it may concern:

I recently learned of Titan America’s plans to build a cement manufacturing plant in Castle Hayne, NC. This project will destroy 500 acres of existing wetlands, pollute our air and waterways, and jeopardize the health of our children and communities. I am strongly opposed to this type of economic development.

Our county commissioners do not represent the majority view of the citizens of New Hanover County. Our airshed and watershed are already impaired by our existing industries. More emissions will only further impair our air, water and communities, and have a long-term negative impact on tourism, our fishing industry and the growth of high-tech businesses and residential development.

As more people learn about the environmental and health impacts of the cement industry, a groundswell of  opposition has begun.

I am one of those citizens who is committed to keeping this industry out of our region.
